As a tour operator, the travelers’ feedback is the gold. Carsten Ullrich(Twitter @Ullrich) is very generous and gave me the gold. I once designed a tour plan for him for a Inner Monglia tour as he requested long time ago. He managed to make it happen recently. Please see his experience and enjoy the pictures as below, but if you dont think the following pictures are too few, please goto his flickr and see more beautiful landscapes of the Inner Mongolia.

We always wanted to visit Inner Mongolia and this summer we finally had the opportunity to do so. Winser Zhao organized an amazing trip, from amazing sand desert to a beautiful mountain valley filled with temples.

We spend the first days in the Tengger Desert, which is part of the Gobi Desert. It is a desert as we imagine it, sand dunes after sand dunes. We first drove to Moon Lake, a beautiful oasis reachable only by jeep. Wow, driving among the dunes is amazing fun, it beat every roller coaster. At the lakeside is a small hotel, but sleeping in a Mongolian tent (Ger) is also possible. If you want to shower, take the hotel. There a some activities available at the Moonlake, a quite short horse ride, swimming, buggy driving, and a camel ride to another lake nearby. Fun, but parts of your body will hurt afterward.

The next day we drove to another lake, the Swan Lake. Also beautiful, without any facilities. The nearby town Bayan Haote is famous for its stones, and its stone market is worth a visit, as well as the beautiful temple next to it. Look out for the signs in four different non-alphabetic languages. Then we went to a valley in the Helan Mountains. This place is sublime. Filled with temples, surrounded by mountains. It looked like Tibet, at a lower altitude. A great place for hiking. Don’t miss the
Hanging Temple, about 30 minutes from the valley.

On the way back to Yinchuan, we climbed among the remains of the Great Wall and visited the Xia tombs.
Our guide Xu Liping was very flexible and it was never a problem to change the planned route according to our wishes.
All in all a great trip, thanks to china Travel 2.0.
Thank You Carsten Ullrich.
