Hi,
I just came back from one of the best trips taken in china. Along with Winser from China Travel 2.0, me and my friends planned a 3 days getaway from Beijing (which is where we live) and went to a non-tourist or tour package type of trip – destination was the Alashan dessert and Helan Mountain.
We were 10 people coming from BJ. Winser helped us with most logistics including: booking air tickets (at the same price from air china…no commission from his end), collaborating and consulting us on the itinerary and places to go, coordinating all local logistics like hiring a local desert guide in yinchuan. Overall, and for a trip as remote as this, with not much information available to us in the web (this locations are not even listed on the lonely planet guide) the planning, execution and experience was flawless – and I mean it was flawless. We had transportation with a safe driver, 4×4 jeeps in the desserts, tents to camp in the middle of no-where, space and room to make changes and tailor made the trip that we wanted and envision. All of this with a nice attitude, good energy and competent both from Winser and once in Yinchuan from the local guide and driver.
I’m not the type of person who post on blogs, etc…but this time and after such an amazing experience I will recomend readers to make the the trip to yinchuan, alashan desert and Helan mountain. It is absolutely worth it, remote, adventurous and peaceful. If you are making this trip on your own, as we did, I will reccomend hand down to use Winser’s expertise and the China Travel 2.0 assistance.
