This is my first time to write something on purpose! Just kiddng…..

I got to apologize for my poor writing skill.

Well, I would love to introduce my lovely island to you!

Hainan (Chinese: 海南; POJ: Hai-lam, pinyin: inán (help·info), jyutping: hoi2 naam4; literal meaning: “South of the Sea”) is the smallest province of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Although the province comprises some two hundred islands scattered among three archipelagos off the southern coast, all but three percent of its land mass is on Hainan Island (Hainan Dao), from which the province takes its name. To say “Hainan” in China usually refers to Hainan Island itself. The PRC government claims Hainan’s territories to extend to the southern Spratly Islands, Paracel Islands and other disputed marine territory. Hainan is also the largest Special Economic Zone laid out by Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping in the late 1980s.

Hainan (the island itself) is located in the South China Sea, separated from Guangdong’s Leizhou Peninsula to the north by a shallow and narrow strait. It has an area of 33,920 square kilometers in this southernmost province of China which, with a total land mass of about 35,000 square kilometers, is also the smallest. For centuries Hainan was part of Guangdong province, but in 1988 this resource-rich tropical island became a separate province. The capital is Haikou. The Island is home to a new strategic naval harbor that has been dug through the mountainside.—–from Wikipedia.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hainan_Island)

Academic time is over. I was born and grew up here. I have live in Sanya, Haikou and Qionghai. I love the island not only because I live here , but also I proud of it. I am so pround of its climate( though it can be very hot in summer, like 39 ℃), its food, its super beautiful seashore, etc.

For the first time, it’s my favorite part: Nosh!!!! And for the nosh part, I will devide it to several local parts. The first one is the Qionghai Nosh.( All the photos were taken by my self).

chuanchuanchuanchuanchuan chuanchuanchuanChuanChuan

this is 串串(chuan chuan). It was invented by the Sicuan people, but later every province has their own style of making it. Generally, the seller just put many kinds of foods on the  stick, vegetables like kelp or mushroom, meat like beef or pork or sometimes kidney(it sounds really scary to my foreign friends), and put the food strings into those cubes as you see in the picture to boil. When you wanna have a try, here is the professional procedure: get yourself a plate or ask for one, and pick anyting you interested( if you doubt it is the bowels, ask first, because it is possible), and tell the seller you want it plain or spicy or any other flavor they provide. Usually , they charge you according to the number of the sticks in your plate, so don’t throw it right away.In most cases, the price is the same ,no matter it is meat or vegetable.

Warning: It is not clean and it may cause diarrhoea. If  you do believ in you digest system, come and enjoy it!!
